Frequently asked questions.

Everything you need to know about your visit to ILO Head Spa. If you have a question that isn't answered here, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

How should I prepare for my head spa treatment?

There is very little preparation needed before your appointment. Please arrive in comfortable clothing and allow yourself enough time to arrive calmly without rushing. Everything else is taken care of during your visit.

Do I need to wash my hair before my appointment?

There is no need to wash your hair beforehand. Ideally, it is best to arrive without heavy styling products in the hair where possible. Hair that has not been washed for a day or two is completely fine. However, arriving with a full week of product build-up is less ideal, as more treatment time would need to be spent on removal rather than relaxation.

Will I leave the salon with wet hair?

A gentle rough dry is included, and you are also welcome to dry it yourself if you prefer. If you would rather leave with your hair fully air-dried, this can also be accommodated, just please let me know before your appointment.

Is scalp analysis included in the head spa treatment?

Scalp analysis is not included as part of the treatment. In my experience, it can often take away from the relaxation element and the time is much better spent allowing you to fully switch off and enjoy the treatment itself.

The focus of my head spa is to create a calming, restorative experience, with the majority of the time dedicated to hands-on scalp, head, and upper body massage so you can fully unwind.

Can I book a couples or double head spa treatment?

I do not currently offer couples or double treatments at the same time, as I work alone and have one treatment space. However, I am happy to arrange back-to-back appointments so you can still come together.

If you have any difficulty booking this online, please feel free to email me and I can help arrange it for you.

Can I have a Head Spa treatment while pregnant?

For your comfort and safety, I recommend booking Head Spa treatments only during the second trimester of pregnancy (approximately 13–27 weeks).

The treatment involves lying back, gentle movement of the head, and scalp, neck and shoulder massage. During early pregnancy, I prefer to avoid treatments as the risks associated with the first trimester have not yet naturally reduced.

I also do not recommend treatments during the third trimester, as lying comfortably for the duration of the treatment can become more difficult, even with additional support and positioning adjustments.

If you are in your second trimester and have any concerns, please feel free to get in touch before booking and I'll be happy to advise.
